Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) are the basis for any remediation or reclamation activities. They can provide insight into past events that may have occurred onsite, current environmental conditions and which future actions are required.
Phase I ESA
Phase I ESAs combine file reviews with field site inspections to determine the potential for site contamination. Phase I ESAs are completed in compliance with provincial guidelines and criteria by qualified signing professionals. Phase I ESAs completed by Sunkay meet or exceed standards required by Alberta Environment to be included in Reclamation Certificate Applications and are used to develop Phase II ESA work plans if required.
Phase II ESA
Phase II ESAs directly address areas of concern identified by the Phase I ESA and are completed by qualified signing professionals. Phase II ESAs completed by Sunkay meet or exceed standards required by Alberta Environment to be included in Reclamation Certificate Applications and are used to develop Remedial Action Plans if required.
Sunkay owns and operates a GEM-2 Conductivity Meter to complete geophysical surveys and enhance our Phase II ESA service. The GEM-2 is a handheld, multi-frequency, digital electromagnetic sensor. Measuring the earth response at multiple frequencies is equivalent to measuring the earth response from multiple depths. The data collected can be used to image a 3-D distribution of subsurface impacts.
